Energy in Vedas
Vedas describe energy by the name of agni. The same agni when located in various spaces is named variously as Indra, VÈyu, JÈtavedas, Vai„vÈnara, Puri–ya, ƒuci, PavamÈna, PÈvaka, A„va, Gau, AjÈ, Avi etc. Some 200 SÊktas have been devoted to Agni (energy) in ÿgveda. Agni is noted to devour his parents (matter) soon after its birth. This points nothing else but conversion of matter into energy. Aiteraya BrÈhma‡a (2.3) and TaittirÏya Br. (220.127.116.11) upholds

ƒatapatha BrÈhma‡a (18.104.22.168), TȇÇya BrÈhma‡a (22.214.171.124), “aÇvi¤„a BrÈhma‡a (3.7) and Gopatha BrÈhma‡a (Second part, 1.12.-13) also observe in similar terms.

sarvadevatyo agniÌ (ƒ.Br. 126.96.36.199)

According to Aitareya BrÈhma‡a (2.6), all the visible matter particles (material objects) in the observer space are made up of agni (energy).
Ègneyo vÈva sarvaÌ pa„uÌ.
TaittirÏya BrÈhma‡a, (188.8.131.52) also observes as,
